Response to Fiona’s Blog Post #3

Hi Fiona, this was a really well constructed and thoughtful post. I really liked in a lot of your ideas for designing learning, the approached were a proactive measure, rather than being reactive; like how you said that barriers should be identified first, before they become an obstacle to learning.

I really liked your inclusion of analogies for when it came to Inclusive Design Learning, which was your idea of scaffolding. I like the visual picture in my head of adding an removing the “scaffolding” from learners as their needs for it grows or lessens. I think that this was a really thoughtful way of thinking of inclusive learning, and shows their caring nature of this learning design. This example actually made me think of learning how to ride a bike; as I’m sure most of us had done, when we first learned how to ride a bike, we used training wheels. We all needed to have these on our bikes because we couldn’t ride without falling, but as we learned, and our confidence grew, the need for these training wheels was diminished.

Overall, I think you’ve done a great job outlining the importance and differences in these forms of learning models.
